Angel hair pasta is one of those types of pasta that works so well with so many different dishes that it is almost some type of ubiquitous food that anyone can enjoy. Even though it can be found in a multitude of different dishes, that does not mean that it is overused – simply that it is such an amazing pasta that nearly anything can be done with it. As for the structure of angel hair pasta, many people believe that it is the thinnest of all types of spaghetti styled pasta. However, such a thought is actually incorrect, as angel hair pasta is (although very small in diameter) not the thinnest.

Capellini is actually thinner than angel hair pasta, making the hair of angels the second thinnest pasta one can buy or make themselves. With the millions of different types of pasta, it can be a challenging task to remember exactly how thick each strand of pasta can be, but if there is one that everyone should remember, it is how thick angel hair is compared to other types of strand noodles.

Most of the uses for angel hair are undoubtedly for Italian creations. Angel hair seems to have a perfect flavor enhancing effect on seafood dishes, including different types of fishes and various muscles, clams and oysters. Even though seafood is often the dish of choice to pair with angel hair pasta, many chefs also enjoy combining this thin pasta with other meats such as chicken (which many can say is also a ubiquitous food). The combination of chicken with angel hair leads to a perfect dish, and people have even begun to mix a variety of flavorful ingredients with their base chicken and pasta mixture. Catching on in popularity are Thai styled dishes with chicken and angel hair pasta as well as many different combinations of lemon flavors in addition to chicken and seafood.
